Acting Ahead to Protect Education Investments: explore the EiE Hub 2025 Flagship Report

Ongoing global disruptions from conflict, climate crises, food insecurity, displacement, and COVID-19 aftermath are affecting 234 million school-aged children, with 85 million out of school. Proactive measures like Preparedness and Anticipatory Action (AA) can mitigate these impacts, ensuring continuous learning and protecting children in crises.

SDC’s partner the Geneva Global Hub for Education in Emergencies (the EiE Hub) launched its 2025 Flagship Report, advocating for anticipatory and preparedness approaches in education before emergencies:

“Today, I call on all of us, governments, donors, humanitarian and development partners to act on the Report’s recommendations: plan for risk before they escalate, fund preparedness alongside response, and empower communities to lead their own resilience. Because crises may be inevitable, but the collapse of education doesn’t have to be. (…) Let’s make anticipatory action in education a global norm, let’s ensure no child’s education is left to chance, especially if it is most at risk”,

Ambassador Dominik Stillhart, Deputy Director General and Head of Humanitarian Aid and SHA Division, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation
