Two-thirds of people no longer entitled to unemployment benefit are back in work after five years

Neuchâtel, 18.11.2024 - Since 2019, some 25 000 people per year have no longer been entitled to receive unemployment benefits. More than half of these people find employment in the first year after losing their entitlement. After five years, two-thirds have done so. However, persons no longer entitled to unemployment benefits who are reintegrated into the labour force are paid lower wages than other employees and are more likely to be employed in atypical working arrangements. The new publication 'Situation of people no longer entitled to unemployment benefits' (FSO) is based on the composite survey 'Social protection and the labour market' (SESAM), which enables the situation of people having lost their entitlement to be compared with that of all employed persons.
