On November 5 and 12, 2020, the SDC Education Network in collaboration with the Competence Centre for Engagement with the Private Sector organized two webinars to present the findings of the scoping study «Private Sector Engagement in Basic Education & Lifelong Learning».

Private sector engagement (PSE) is an important topic in Switzerland's international cooperation strategy 2017-202 and 2021-2024. This is why the SDC Education Network has commissioned iGravity to explore the opportunities, benefits as well as risks involved in engaging with the private sector in education. This scoping study serves the SDC Education Focal Point and SDC field operations as a basis for policy dialogue, strategic and operational decision-making, and as operational guidance for SDC education programmes to significantly increase PSE projects in basic education and lifelong learning (BELL)

Over 30 SDC staff from HQ and country offices and over 30 SDC partners joined the webinars and shared their experience and concerns about PSE in BELL and asked many questions. As next steps, the Education Network has set up a small working to continue the discussion and develop a position paper in the new year. As it is a new field for many practitioners, a community of practices might be created in the new year.
