SDC webinar recap: Inclusive Quality Education in Emergencies

The webinar on the second Module of SDC’s Education in Emergencies Toolkit focusing on Inclusive Quality Education in Emergencies (IQEiE) took place on 12 November 2025.

Inclusive Quality Education in Emergencies

Inclusive Quality Education in Emergencies is a vital component of inclusive quality education. It helps ensure that the continuity of education leads to holistic learning outcomes and well-being for all learners, and supports the resilience of communities

During the webinar, we presented the EiE Toolkit and specifically focused on the Inclusive Quality EiE Module. We then went through two case studies on Bangladesh (by Priyanka Mazumder, Programme Manager – Humanitarian Aid and Nexus, Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh) and Ukraine (by Ilona Postemska, Senior National Programme Officer Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine).

Key Highlights:

  • Inclusive quality education in emergencies helps address the psychosocial impact of crises by creating structure and routines, and plays a central protective role.
  • In refugee camps such as Cox's Bazar in Bangladesh, education is about dignity and hope for children and youth.
  • In Ukraine, online education is crucial in ensuring the continuity of learning for millions of children, yet it cannot substitute in-person education.
