Things to keep in mind
Learn a few tips and tricks when working with Livingdocs.
Managing your assets
The Livingdocs backend lets you upload images and documents in different file formats: jpg, png, docx, xlsx, pptx, pdf, etc. It is recommended to use:
- For images: Use .jpg for photos and .png for graphics.
- For documents: .pdf for all 'read only' documents. We recommend to export powerpoint presentations or Word documents PDF, before uploading to Livingdocs. Use other document formats (pptx, docx, xlsx, etc.) if you want to offer an editable document version to your audience.
You cannot create folders and subfolder for your assets. You need to tag them using Tags and Backend Filters. Please use those filters. They will help you to find your assets in future.
- Tags: Most Tags describe the specific topic. You can select more than one tag. Use tags for documents and pages only. If you use tags on images, they will appear in the search box of the 'Manual Download List'. This is an unfortunate system bug.
- Backend Filter General: Select from one of the main E+E themes. Use this filter on all your assets, images, documents, and pages.
- Backend Filter Files: Define what kind of document you are uploading. Is it a report, an evaluation, or a fact sheet? This Filter is available only for files.
- Backend Filter Images: Define the kind of image you are uploading. Is it a photo or an infographic? This Filter is available only for images.
- Backend Filter Pages: To which top-leve menu page does this subpage belong to? Does it belong to VSD, PSD, FSD, or will the page belong to 'News & Events' page? This Filter is available only for pages.
Searching for assets
Since Tags and Filters are the only way to keep order in your media library, use the above filters to narrow down your search. But you can use additional search tools:
- Text: Type a document, image or page title. Use "" to search for the exact text.
- Date range: You can narrow down your search when you know the approximate date you uploaded the asset.
- Author: In Pages you can filter all pages you have been working on.
Adding new pages to the menu
Once you have published a new page, you can open the page in the browser by adding its slug to the main http address: https://www.sdc-economy-education.ch/how-to-keep-things-in-mind
But a published page is not automatically added to the site's menu. To find the page in the menu, you need to add it to the menu. To do this, you need to contact the administrator who has the rights to change the menu.

Livingdocs resources
Creating pages on Livingdocs is easy. All it takes is regular practice. These tutorials will help you start your journey to becoming a first-class page creator. Familiarizing yourself with the many tools and components will give you new ideas for structuring your content and designing a compelling Livingdocs webpage. Let's start with the basics: create your first news post!

Create a page
A simple page consists of three sections. First, the lead section with the main page title, a short introduction (the text you are reading right now) and a header image. Second, the body with its information in the form of text, links, documents and images. And finally the 'call to action' section where you offer the audience further topics to explore, thus keeping them reading your content.

Upload documents
Adding a document to a page involves two basic steps. First you upload it to the Livingdocs platform. Then you insert it into one of the page components available to you.
